NFTS committed to accessible learning with new accommodation & bursary
The National Film and Television School (NFTS) will be providing new purpose-built accessible accommodation for students with physical access requirements from January 2027.
As part of NFTS’s expansion to its Main Campus in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, the accommodation will be housed within the newly named The Cubby Broccoli Building. It will offer nine fully accessible rooms, that will enable students with physical access requirements to participate fully in all aspects of NFTS life.
This is part of NFTS’s ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment enabling all students to live and study independently.
Each room will feature:
- Step-free access throughout
- Spacious room layouts suitable for wheelchair users and mobility aids
- Accessible bathrooms with adapted fittings
- Wide doorways, level flooring and accessible storage
- Convenient access to the communal lounge, kitchen and laundry
- Integration into the wider campus
NFTS has also launched an Accessible Living Bursary to cover the cost of reasonable adjustments and rent, enabling eligible students to live on site at no additional cost. This bursary can be combined with other scholarships and financial support.
NFTS Disability Lead, Hamish Thompson explains, “Access should never be the reason someone is prevented from pursuing their creative potential. The new on-site accommodation and Accessible Living Bursary is about removing practical and financial barriers so that disabled students can thrive, live independently, and be fully part of the inspiring NFTS community from day one.”
