Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts offers MA Music Industry Management
The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts is offering an MA in Music Industry Management in 2025 – ideal for those who want to develop their music management skills and forge a career in the creative industries.
The curriculum of this masters degree is supported with real-world music industry engagement as evidenced by its experienced and well-connected team of staff, which includes Head of Department Keith Mullin, member of popular British 90s band, The Farm.
Keith has worked extensively to craft the MA Music Industry Management which enables managers, musicians and creatives to navigate an increasingly complex global industry. The skills and approaches developed on the course can be applied to a wide range of areas such as artist management, live music, marketing, rights management and music supervision. Students will graduate from the course with relevant contacts, real-world experience and a solid understanding of the creative industries.
Keith has over 30 years of music industry experience. As well as being a member of The Farm, he has managed bands, co-owned record labels and worked in higher education for more than 20 years. He says: “Like most MAs there are academic and research elements, but we don’t want students to solely produce historical commentary. We want them to look at contemporary practice, consider how things are done differently, and through their practice create something new to help drive the industry forward. I’m hoping the students who come through this course will be the people who go on to create music industry culture.”
Speaking about the postgraduate program, recent graduate Matt Dacombe says: “The course has been extremely flexible in that I have been able to adapt and frame the modules to my own professional needs. Over the year, I learnt more about the industry, test marketed my own business and worked on myself as an artist.”
