Online study at Falmouth University equips the next generation of higher education professionals
Starting a teaching career in higher education isn't as complicated as it seems, especially in the UK. However, like other forms of teaching, becoming a university lecturer requires you to show your commitment to learning through achieving a qualification that proves you can give a meaningful and rewarding experience to your future students.
Falmouth University offers a wide range of on-campus and online postgraduate courses, from masters degrees to postgraduate certificates and diplomas, including a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education – more commonly known as a PGCHE – which is specifically designed to equip you to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
This dynamic online PGCHE is unique to Falmouth’s postgraduate portfolio; while it is a level 7 qualification like their MA, MSc or PGDip programmes, it is shorter in duration and is specifically designed to support current teaching practitioners to become qualified to work in higher education (HE) contexts.
As the education sector places increasing emphasis on the student experience, effective teaching and learning practice is taking centre stage. This creates a need for both academic and support staff that are confident and qualified in the teaching they deliver.
That’s where Falmouth’s online PGCHE comes in: equipping educators to gain the expertise they need to support and enhance their work in digital and face-to-face teaching and learning contexts.
An internationally recognised qualification, the PGCHE is designed in consultation with education professionals and external bodies. Led by experienced academic and practitioner Andy Peisley, students develop as a creative, competent and committed HE practitioners through a ‘learning by doing’ approach, pushing the limits of their practice, trying new initiatives and taking risks within a safe, supportive environment.
Why Falmouth’s online degrees are different
Underpinned by an award-winning team of learning designers, Falmouth’s online master’s courses are studied 100% remotely, at a time and place that suits you. You can study around work, alongside childcare or caring commitments, or just in a way that better fits your lifestyle.
If you're looking for an alternative and more flexible route into a career in higher education, to develop your creative practice in your own time and space, or to focus on your career development, an online master’s with Falmouth might be just what you’re looking for.
