Meet the Falmouth students reaching new heights through online study
For many students, online courses offer an accessible route into education, enabling them to study while working and managing other commitments.
However, flexibility is far from the only benefit; for students on Falmouth University’s online masters degrees, the freedom provided by the online format is helping them excel in their respective industries.
For MA Marketing & Digital Communications (Online) graduate Andie Cooper, studying online allowed her to refine her digital storytelling and globally-focused marketing prowess, for which she was named as one of DMG Media’s ‘40 Under 40’ young marketing stars. “I loved the online format – it gave me the flexibility to learn on my own terms,” she explains, adding: “Having control over when and how I studied wasn’t just convenient, it was empowering, and I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am today without the knowledge and perspective the course provided.”
Joseph Millson, an actor-turned-screenwriter, graduated from the MA Writing for Script & Screen (Online) with a portfolio of short film scripts strong enough to scoop multiple awards. His Final Major Project – Signs of Life – was produced last year and has recently been named ‘Best Feature’ at both the London Independent Film Festival and the Berlin Indie Film Festival. The course had a significant impact for Joseph; “I loved the way the course was structured and the fact that my peer group could be from all over the world,” he says.
The seasoned industry professionals supporting Falmouth’s online degrees also play a key role in inspiring student success, as MA in Photography (Online) student Nina Kostamo Deschamps discovered. Just a few months after graduating, her photo series Usva (meaning ‘mist’ in English), was shortlisted for the prestigious 2025 Photo London x Hahnemühle Student Award. “I’m grateful to my tutor, Wendy McMurdo, whose insight and encouragement helped me shape this series,” she explains.
Why Falmouth’s online degrees are different
Underpinned by award-winning learning design, Falmouth’s online masters courses are studied 100% remotely, at a time and place that suits you, so you can study around work, alongside childcare or caring commitments – or just in a way that better fits your lifestyle.
If you're looking for an alternative and more flexible route into higher education, to develop your creative practice in your own time and space, or to focus on your career development, an online masters with Falmouth might be just what you’re looking for.
