University of Birmingham’s teacher training course is reaccredited for 2024

University of Birmingham School of EducationThe University of Birmingham continues to prepare and support new teachers following the reaccreditation of its teacher training programmes from the UK Government’s Department for Education for 2024.

Our Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) programmes provide students with an in-depth academic knowledge and skills, as well as a better understanding of teaching practice, education research and theory to inspire the next generation towards a brighter future.

Upon enrolling on the course, you get the opportunity to tailor the programme to your interests. You can choose to specialise in Early Years (3-7 years old), General Primary (5-11 years old) or Secondary Education, giving you the flexibility to focus on the age group and subject that resonates most with your passion and teacher aspirations.

PGCEs are also internationally recognised, providing valuable credentials to those considering teaching opportunities outside of England.

The University of Birmingham’s Primary and Secondary Education Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme is meticulously designed as a dedicated pathway to a successful teaching career. In collaboration with our careers service, the course provides comprehensive job application support to boost your employability prospects. UK and EU Teacher Training students may qualify for funding support from the Department for Education or its related scholarship organisations.
