Brand new Biomedical Sciences master’s degrees launched at Abertay University
Abertay University in Dundee, Scotland, has launched a suite of new Biomedical Sciences master’s degrees.
These new MSc courses are:
- MSc Biomedical Sciences
- MSc Biomedical Sciences with Industrial Practise
- MSc Biomedical Sciences with Point of Care Testing (online)
Developed in collaboration with NHS and industry, these practical programmes are in response to a shift in healthcare practice towards a more personal and adaptive community-based approach. This shift has been hastened by rapid advances in both technology and practice, allowing for increasingly sophisticated and effective devices being used in health care.
These new programmes are among the first in the world to focus on this area, providing graduates with the knowledge and skills to meet these evolving healthcare needs.
MSc Biomedical Sciences/MSc Biomedical Sciences with Industrial Practise
In addition to core biomedical principles, these programmes allow you to tailor your learning, choosing between designing and executing experiments in the context of health care applications; or focusing on the implementation and monitoring of near-patient testing devices. There is also the opportunity to apply to undertake an industrial placement as an alternative to an academic research project.
MSc Biomedical Sciences with Point of Care Testing (online)
This online programme focuses on the investigation and development of innovative products and solutions to some of healthcare’s most significant issues. The World Health Organisation (WHO) advocates for the continued development and wider implementation of accurate, rapid and affordable POCT, which is crucial for more effective infection identification, regardless of the healthcare infrastructure.
This flexible programme is aimed at existing Biomedical Scientists, those with a relevant healthcare background and those with a relevant Life Sciences or chemistry background. Graduates will be in a string position to join or advance in an exciting and quickly evolving industry.
Applications for January 2025 are open now.
