Shape your future at Imperial
Welcome to Imperial College London, the world–leading university for science, technology, engineering, medicine and business (STEMB).
We were founded in 1907 with a mission ‘To be useful’, but we know that before anyone can usefully change something, they first need to understand it. That’s what we do here: we use science to try to understand more of the universe and improve the lives of the people in it.
Our world-leading rankings
Imperial is consistently recognised as a top global research university and we are currently ranked 2nd in the World in the QS World University Rankings 2026.

Application rounds for postgraduate taught courses
A number of our departments use application rounds for recruitment to their courses. The application rounds have fixed deadlines throughout the year. You should apply by 23.59 (UK time) on the application round closing date to make sure that you receive the outcome of your application by the decision date.
You can find out if the department you’re interested in uses application rounds, as well as application deadlines for your chosen course on our Study website.
Popular courses tend to close early – typically from January onwards in the year that your course is due to start – so make sure you apply in good time.
A place to innovate
The mixture of science and business is what makes an Imperial education unique.
