Course Details You will develop the ability to critically engage with psychological literature, explain and investigate behaviour from a psychological perspective, communicate your understanding effectively, and gain a broad grounding in the core areas of psychology.
These skills are essential for people wishing to move forward with a career in Psychology (such as a Clinical Psychologist or Educational Psychologist), and they are also useful in many other careers.
An application for accreditation has been submitted to the British Psychological Society for this course.

The Department of Psychology provides a world-class teaching and research environment for postgraduates who are interested in understanding more about the thoughts, feelings and motivations that lie behind actions and human behaviours and the processes that trigger them.
Our academic team are leading experts in their specialisms and provide outstanding supervision for postgraduate learning and research in key areas of psychology including Developmental Science, Cognitive Neuroscience and Quantitative Social Psychology.
Facilities The Department of Psychology is located on the main Mountjoy site, close to many academic departments and University services, and is within walking distance of Durham’s historic centre, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Facilities in the Department are outstanding. They provide state-of-the-art support for postgraduate work in understanding mind and behaviour through high precision experimental methods and ecologically valid controlled environments.

| Entry requirements | We require a 2:1 Bachelor (Honours) degree or international equivalent. Applicants are also expected to have some mathematical knowledge for the programme, therefore having studied a relevant mathematics/quantitative module at university level or a minimum of GCSE Mathematics with grade B/5 or international equivalent is a prerequisite for prospective candidates. |
