University of Kent academic joins the Design Council's new expert network
A Professor of Planning from the University of Kent has become a member of the Design Council’s new network of experts.
Professor Samer Bagaeen, Program Director for the MA Urban Planning and Resilience at the University of Kent, has joined the new team of experts who all fully support the Design Council’s commitment to make life better by design.
Speaking about this exciting new appointment, Professor Bagaeen says, “It is an honour to be part of this network refresh at the Design Council, as all of us, work to improve the diversity and background of senior professionals operating in our field. We have as a result of this refresh an increased diversity of backgrounds, skills and expertise and I look forward to supporting this community of practice as it evolves.” He continues, “Myself and the network look forward to supporting colleagues in Kent. We not only have improved ethnic diversity of network from 5% representation to 17% representation, we also have stronger representation in all 9 England regions.”
The network includes 400 built and natural environment experts who together play a key role in delivering Design Council’s design advice and support services in this field.
The Design Council comments, “Over the coming months, this new network of experts will join with Design Council’s recently refreshed group of design associates, to form a dynamic community of practice which will share ideas, insights and develop exciting opportunities to collaborate. By bringing together increasingly diverse experts, social and business innovation, service and systemic design, this community of practice is in a strong position to respond positively and even more effectively to some of society’s most pressing challenges.”
