Take a Hike to Boost Creativity

If you are suffering from  writers block, lack of inspiration, or a lull in creativity, why not use the power of nature to rediscover your inner Da Vinci and get your functionality back?

Recent studies have shown that heading off into the great outdoors can actually increase creativity by up to 50%. Amazing right? This study was not a standalone investigation either, as it came off the back of previous studies which also showed the relationship between nature and increased creativity patterns.

Experts believe that one of the key reasons that taking a hike in nature can nurture creativity is that when people are out enjoying the wilds of the world, the ordinary everyday distractions that usually fill up our lives are eliminated, allowing us to function more freely. Those taking part in this recent study went for four days without their mobiles, iPhones, iPads, laptops and televisions, meaning that there were no barriers in the way of creation and inspiration. Over the years many great writers have talked about the importance of getting back in touch with nature. Why? Because they produce the best work when they are free to enjoy the simplicity of a natural lifestyle.

Applying the Knowledge Now we know a simple walk is all it takes to get inspired, we can apply this knowledge to our own postgraduate studies . If you're feeling like you've lost your creative mojo, why not get up, go outside, and take a stroll in your local park or woodland? Science has proven that this is an effective way of getting creativity back, and apart from the creativity aspect, it also increases positivity, mood, and improves overall health. When you feel refreshed and rejuvenated your postgraduate studies are sure to benefit. Without the distractions of the modern world your mind is able to get back to its creative best, and that's something that your studies will definitely benefit from!

Many people suffer from ‘system overload’ in the modern world, as we are constantly multitasking and overloading ourselves with information. If this sounds all too familiar, a bit of time out from your hectic lifestyle to reconnect with nature and rebalance your inner self could be just what you need. As ‘new age’ as it may sound, this concept is actually extremely grounded in science and is something that is worth considering if you are serious about reaching your true potential.

Technology has become an integral part of the modern lifestyle, but breaking away from it for specific periods of time each day or week will work wonders for your stress and creativity levels .

Who would have thought that taking a hike would actually be beneficial to your postgraduate study?
