Study type Research

Summary

The Research Centre in Nondestructive Evaluation (RCNDE) is an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)-sponsored collaboration between industry and universities to coordinate research into Non-Destructive evaluation (NDE) technologies.

These technologies are crucial to achieving greater integrity and safety performance across all aspects of engineering.

Our four year doctorate programme, EngD, is for new graduates and those who have already worked in industry and combines advanced knowledge and professional development training modules with company-based research. The research may be a single project or a series of linked projects relating to advanced NDE technology.

Successful candidates will work closely with their chosen sponsor, normally carrying out the majority of project work at that company.

Our current collaboration includes working with industry partners where NDE plays an important role :

  • Airbus

  • BP

  • EDF

  • eON

  • Network Rail

  • NNL

  • Npower

  • Renishaw

  • Rolls-Royce

  • RWE

  • Serco

  • Shell

  • QinetiQ
