University of Dundee: Undergraduate Certificate in Teaching Qualification (TQFE)
|Institution||University of Dundee|
|Department||School of Education and Social Work|
This in-service teaching qualification is for people currently working in a further education (FE) college or other adult or community education setting, who may be new to teaching or who are looking to develop their existing teaching skills.
Our TQFE course is delivered almost entirely online, so you can fit your studies around your professional and personal commitments. You have the option of attending the city campus once at the start of the course for an introductory workshop. There are also online workshops throughout the year.
During the course you will critically reflect upon your own teaching practice alongside educational theory. You will also explore key political, social, and economic factors that have an impact on educational development.
We cover a wide range of topics including the educational uses of social media tools, teaching approaches, assessment, learners and their motivation, and the design of online learning environments.
We work with FE colleges across Scotland and have agreements with many of them to provide you with co-ordinators and mentors from your workplace, giving you strong localised support. Alternatively where we don't have this in place, we will aim to match you with someone from our University teaching team.
