Summary

Prosthodontics is a component mono-specialty of the field of Restorative Dentistry.

In this course, you will have the opportunity to reinforce your clinical skills in endodontics and periodontics. With these skills, you will be able to deliver high-quality integrated care in a team environment. There is also a focus on the scientific and biological background of dental diseases and their treatment.

You will develop your skills to a specialist level in fixed and removable prosthodontics. This will be done through multi-disciplinary patient-centred clinical practice including:

  • aesthetics dentistry, including smile design

  • digital dentistry workflow in prosthodontics

  • full mouth rehabilitation

  • implant dentistry

  • management of tooth surface loss

  • minimal intervention dentistry

  • science and selection of biomaterials

You will learn a broad range of specialist-level skills including:

  • prosthodontic management following head and neck cancer care

  • prosthodontic management required for acquired maxillofacial and dentoalveolar defects due to:

maxillofacial trauma developmental and congenital abnormalities including cleft lip and palate other developmental disturbances of the teeth (e.g. amelogenesis imperfecta, and hypodontia)

You will develop as a leader in the healthcare setting by developing competence in:

  • human factors and ergonomics

  • leadership and management skills

  • clinical governance
