Our Master of Research (MRes) in Sport Leadership and Professional Development is aimed at current and aspiring sports industry professionals who are responsible for leading people and projects.

This programme is also available to study as an online distance learning course, giving you a flexible route to study your degree.

This programme will deepen your understanding of the role of sport leadership in contemporary sports environments and enable you to develop as a reflective practitioner. As a leader of people or projects, you and your work-related practice will take centre stage throughout this degree.

We’ll guide your development and encourage you to think about the effectiveness of your practice and how to develop strategies to ensure that you and your organisation achieve your ambitions. With a focus on strategic sport leadership, the reflective sport leader and leading research and work-based evaluation, we’ll give you the skills and confidence to analyse sport and education related practices, equipping you with the knowledge and skills you need to enjoy a successful career in contemporary sports environments.

You’ll develop skills in research methods and procedures relevant to a range of sporting environments and professions, increasing your ability to plan, project-manage and implement a major research and/or work-based project in sport. You’ll also develop your critical thinking skills so that you’re equipped to evaluate the work that you lead.
