Course overview - Our MA in Community Leadership is a unique course developed and inspired by people who work within communities as activists and change makers. Based at our Burnley Campus, you’ll be part of a leadership learning community, sharing experiences and best practice, and benefiting through a powerful, peer-led programme.

  • You’ll learn from staff who are all practitioners and internationally recognised in their fields. They’ll share their knowledge on a peer to peer basis and support you to develop new and innovative solutions to current issues.

  • This course is taught at our Burnley Campus in Pennine Lancashire. You’ll benefit from small class sizes and a friendly, supportive learning environment.

Why study with us - You’ll use the philosophy of Paulo Freire to take new theoretical concepts and critically challenge them within your communities.

  • You’ll also use and explore management concepts developed by community educator Mary Parker Follett (1868 to 1933); a woman whose ideas were seen as ahead of her time and which are hugely relevant today.
