Course overview - Are you keen to understand more about the Asia Pacific region and its major role in the global economy? The MA in Asia Pacific Studies explores society, economy, politics, international relations and some of the pressing security issues in the region.

  • The MA provides a stimulating blend of theory and policy, and you’ll be encouraged to explore the interplay between the two.

  • You’ll broaden and deepen your understanding of major issues, developments and discourses about the history, politics, economy, society and culture of the region, leading to an in-depth dissertation on an area of your own personal or professional interest.

Why study with us - You will be taught by colleagues from the International Institute of Korean Studies and the Northern England Policy Centre for the Asia Pacific, which works within a global network of influential academics, diplomats, journalists and public policy officials working on the Asia Pacific region.

  • Our research-active teaching team brings research of international standing into your classroom sessions and tutorials. More importantly, you will have the opportunity to help to develop that research.

  • We are involved in many exciting projects and work with partner institutions around the world to offer you visits, internships and placement opportunities.
