Course overview - Occupational Therapy course you’ll be eligible to apply for initial registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and for full membership of the British Association of Occupational Therapists and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.

  • On this course you’ll combine study on campus with professional placements. You’ll be taught in small groups in our purpose-built rehabilitation and assessment facilities, which include occupational therapy skills areas, simulated home environments and a movement analysis laboratory.

  • We place a particular emphasis on ‘real life’ assessments that reflect the ways in which you’ll learn and practice during the course, preparing you for the complexity of contemporary occupational therapy practice. During your placements you’ll experience real-life occupational therapy practice, working alongside other healthcare related professionals such as doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists and social workers to deliver effective and patient-centred care.

  • We have well established links with occupational therapists working within the NHS, social care and private practices across the North West. We also have links with charitable organisations, international institutions and hospitals – so you’ll get lots of opportunities to experience the full breadth of contemporary occupational therapy practice.

Why study with us - This course is accredited by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).

  • You’ll combine on-campus study with a series of work placements, so you’ll quickly develop the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career.

  • You’ll be taught by expert staff who are actively involved with the professional body, the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, as committee members and researchers.

Further information As part of the course you will have the opportunity to hear about the experiences of service users, carers, patients and public members via our community engagement and service user support groups (Comensus).
