The programme is designed to prepare practitioners for the role of health visitor through meeting the professional standards laid down by the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) for registration on part 3 of the professional register; The academic team prides itself on providing a supportive environment that is conducive to your learning needs, and is committed to supporting you in the development of your academic and professional knowledge. You will also develop key transferable skills, in order to become a flexible, autonomous and highly-skilled practitioner.
The course has a practice element and applicants will need sponsorship from a participating primary care trust.

Evidence of recent professional and academic development; applicants must have an active entry on part 1 or part 2 of the NMC's professional register; have 1 year's post-registration experience of professional practice; require accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) of at least a Lower 2nd Class Honours degree (2.2) in a relevant subject; and comply with occupational health screening procedures and Criminal Records Bureau screening to the satisfaction of the health care organisation providing the practice placement (normally a primary care trust); academic credits (APL) should normally be for recent studies in the areas of nursing and health studies, or the behavioural or social sciences; if English is not the 1st language: IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.
