This course is a practical, project-led programme where students will study and specialise in a range of modules including computer graphics and special effects, and the visual understanding behind computer games and artificial intelligence. During the course students will explore everything from understanding necessary approaches for creating visual effects, to looking at the relationship between the segmentation, classification and identification of images and video. They will also gain exposure to modern visual effects tools, programming techniques and physics-based animation, with the opportunity to apply these and adapt algorithms to typical problems in an advanced visual effects R and D environment. The programme can be studied full-time, for 1 year, or take an optional professional placement and complete the course in 2 years.
