The purpose of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to explore community nursing practice from a variety of perspectives with the aim of developing their current level of nursing knowledge and skills.

The curriculum focuses on: Contemporary healthcare issues as they relate to primary healthcare practice both nationally and internationally; the organisation and delivery of healthcare in the community with particular emphasis on evidence based practice; the role of the nurse in developing appropriate healthcare interventions aimed at meeting the needs of individuals, families and communities within a primary healthcare context; the importance of community partnership and a multidisciplinary team approach in the provision of effective healthcare.
