Summary

The aim of the programme is to provide a progression route for students from science based degrees, to gain knowledge and skills in the area of animal behaviour and its application. There is an increasing demand within the animal behaviour industry for people to have both academic and practical skills. Therefore this programme is designed to emphasise the vocational and applied nature of the subject studied.

Distinctive features.
This programme is distinctive in that it allows students to look at developing the academic theories of animal behaviour and also the practical applications of this knowledge in a wider context. The college facilities offer a wide range of species for students to focus on and allows for integration of both knowledge and practical skills throughout the course. Throughout the programme there will be a strong emphasis on the ethics and welfare of using animals and students will be able to consider the philosophical areas relating to animal welfare.
The programme is designed to bring students from a biological science background into the field of animal behaviour and by offering a strong practical and applied element to the course allowing these students to develop both academic and vocational skills required for the animal behaviour sector.
