Summary

The course consists of two modules and is provided face to face in Jordanstown for commissioned/domestic applicants. For those from further afield the course is provided online

The first module introduces the students to the principles that underpin learning and teaching and enable them to understand the rationale behind decisions made about teaching practices. The module will also introduce an opportunity to engage in simulated teaching practice with a view to getting feedback from self, peers and tutor.

The second module builds on the first and introduces students to a variety of techniques used in practice such as small group teaching, facilitation, patient education and skills teaching. Opportunities for assessment in practice will be taken throughout the course and enable the student to design and deliver a bespoke teaching session that is congruent with their work needs.

The staff who contribute to the course are experienced educators in healthcare and are Senior Fellows of the HEA.
