Summary
Gain expertise in resolving sporting disputes, as well as understanding the regulation of sporting activities and relationships, via negotiation, arbitration, pre–trial behaviour and litigation.

Understand, analyse, critically evaluate and unlock complex sporting disputes.

Learn how to effectively advise and represent real clients, via pre–trial behaviour, written and oral submissions, applications for disclosure, witness statements (including examination) and advocacy at the hearing.

Gain expertise in either football law or anti–doping law and present a case to a sporting judicial forum.
Designed and delivered by internationally recognised experts, this course offers expertise in the practice and procedure before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC), UK Anti–Doping and other disciplinary courts and tribunals, with emphasis on the effective representation of the client in the resolution of complex sporting disputes.
How you learn Emphasis is given to case studies, with a continuous analysis of the practical aspects of sports law such as anti–doping litigation, football contracts with a focus on employment disputes involving intermediaries, players and clubs, European competition law aspects, injuries on and off the field, intellectual property rights, sponsorship contracts, negotiation and alternative dispute resolution. There are also shadowing and mentoring opportunities.

Entry requirements | A 2:2 degree or above in Law, Business, Sports Science or a related degree. Relevant work experience will be considered. You also need to provide two satisfactory references. If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS 6.5 score with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in all other skill areas or equivalent. If your English language skill is currently below IELTS 6.5 or equivalent we recommend you consider a Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course which will enable you to achieve an equivalent English score. If you do not have such academic qualifications we may consider your application individually, based on your personal, professional and work experience, and other formal qualifications. You may also be able to claim credit points which can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete your qualification at Sheffield Hallam. |
