Politecnico Milano launches new Masters in High Performance Computing Engineering

Politecnico MilanoPolitecnico Milano has announced the launch of a new masters program in High Performance Computing (HPC) Engineering.

This postgraduate course will be taught in English out of Politecnico Milano’s School of Industrial and Information Engineering on the Milano Leonardo campus.

HPC Engineering is a multidisciplinary two-year full-time course, designed to train engineers in information technologies and computer architectures for supercomputing, as well as quantum computing and the mathematical-statistical modelling of complex problems.

During the first year modules include the study of various topics, such as parallel computing and programming, high-performance parallel processors, cloud infrastructures and data centres, numerical analysis and applied statistics. The second year explores quantum computing and heterogeneous HPC systems based on accelerators (GPUs and tensor cores). Students will also be expected to write a thesis, and this can be carried out in an industry-oriented context or abroad.

The successful completion of the HPC Engineering masters will lead to a fulfilling career in a multitude of different industries. Alternatively, students of this PG program could choose to progress onto a relevant PhD or other specialised course.

Applications for the Masters in High Performance Computing Engineering are now open.
