De Montfort University Executive MBA graduate excels in his career

De Montfort UniversityAn Executive MBA graduate from De Montfort University (DMU) is excelling in his career following his postgraduate studies.

Darren Hemsley has been promoted to a top role in a leading manufacturing company after completing DMU’s Executive MBA program in 2019. As well as being appointed Sales and Marketing Director of Litecast Limited – a key supplier of manufactured materials in the UK construction industry – Darren has also been given a seat on the board. He explains “The Executive MBA has acted as a platform for career progression, allowing me to fulfil my aspirations of becoming a director.”

Darren studied the Executive MBA part time through DMU’s blended learning study mode. Studying via blended learning meant Darren was able to continue working and progressing in his career at the same time as completing his masters. He says, “The part-time blended approach worked really well for me. My career has always been my priority, so ensuring that I could study with minimal disruption to work was imperative.” He continues,  “The course was intensive, so time management was crucial to balance my workload and study commitments. The tutors at DMU were incredibly supportive though, with a pragmatic approach to our work commitments and deadlines. Studying the program was equally as rewarding and enjoyable as it was challenging.”

Darren graduated from his Executive MBA with a distinction and feels that this course has been invaluable to his career progression. He says, “The course has been so beneficial for both my career and the company. The Executive MBA is a dynamic, forward-thinking course, which breaks the mould of a conventional MBA by focusing largely on how the world of business will be going forwards.” He continues, “The knowledge I gained about writing business plans has also come in handy for competitor analysis, especially because the business I work for faces strong competition in the sector.”

As part of the course, Darren was able to put theory into practice through a DMU Global trip to Chiang Mai in Thailand as part of a field business project – this was a course highlight for him!
