Swansea University recognised for innovation on UK’s Best Breakthrough list
An innovation pioneered at Swansea University has been listed as one of the UK’s 100 best breakthroughs for its impact on people’s everyday lives.
Professor Paul Dyson from Swansea’s Medical School has been recognised for his research on salmonella, which could be used to develop better cancer treatments. This research has shown that unlike chemotherapy or radiotherapy, salmonella treatment is non-toxic and only targets the cancerous tissue.
The full list of breakthroughs demonstrates how UK universities are at the cutting edge of some of the world’s most important research and discoveries.
