Staffordshire University Engineering Professor receives lifelong achievement award
An Engineering Professor from Staffordshire University has received an award for his contribution to engineering worldwide.
Noel Shammas, Emeritus Professor of Microelectronics and Solid-State Electronics, has been given an award for his lifetime, outstanding support and contribution to the Universities Power Engineering Conference (UPEC).
Professor Shammas says, “I’m delighted to receive this award, I would like to thank UPEC and all of my colleagues there. I would also like to thank all my colleagues here at Staffordshire University because without their help and support I wouldn’t have been able to do what I did.”
UPEC is an international conference for scientists, young researchers, PhD students and engineers worldwide, and Professor Shammas has been an international steering committee member of UPEC for many years.
Dr Chris Gould, a UPEC steering committee member and Senior Lecturer in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Staffordshire University, accepted the award on Professor Shammas’s behalf. Dr Gould says, “Everyone has enjoyed working with Noel over the years, he has made a very valuable contribution to UPEC. This is a way of saying thank you for the superb support that he has shown. Noel has helped to develop many engineers over the years and we wish him all the best.”
