Royal College of Art Pokémon Scholars visit Japan

Royal College of ArtAs part of winning the inaugural Pokémon Scholarship, two Royal College of Art students were given the opportunity to travel to Japan to visit the Pokémon Studios.

The Pokémon Company organised the five-day trip for Amir Afshar (Innovation Design Engineering MA/MSc) and Jesse Cahn-Thompson (Information Experience Design MA), which included visits to their Tokyo-based studio where Amir and Jessie met CEO, Tsunekazu Ishihara alongside the innovation, gaming and toy making teams.

Amir and Jessie were lucky enough to experience aspects of Japanese culture during their visit, including enjoying the Sakura season, dining at a traditional izakaya and visiting the Miraikan National Museum – museum of emerging science and innovation.

Both Amir and Jesse are exhibiting in the RCA Graduate Show 2019, from Saturday 29th June – Sunday 7th July, along with over 800 more of the world’s most talented architecture, arts, design and communication students.

Find out more about their Pokémon adventures and of course, their favourite Pokémon.
