Politecnico di Milano launches MSc in Geoinformatics Engineering
Politecnico di Milano in Italy has launched an MSc in Geoinformatics Engineering – this is the first program of its kind in Italy and is taught entirely in English.
Politecnico di Milano has offered a wide range of high-ranked postgraduate programs in Engineering taught in English for a long time and has recently started providing brand new Engineering courses in addition to its more traditional ones to meet the ever-evolving market demands. The need to monitor the changes and the health of our planet has resulted in the institution offering an MSc in Geoinformatics Engineering.
The MSc in Geoinformatics Engineering is led by the Geomatics and Geodetic research group from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. This group, of 14 researchers and professors, was founded by Emeritus Professor Fernando Sansò, former President of the International Association of Geodesy. The research activity is focused on GNSS positioning, meteorology, networks and reference frames, GIS and Earth Observation, Photogrammetry, Geostatistics, Physical and Satellite Geodesy. The group also hosts Polimappers, a chapter of Youthmapper and it is strongly involved in OpenStreetMap activities.
This new course is well suited to those students graduating with a bachelors in either Environmental/Geomatics or Computer Science Engineering, however students with a different technical or scientific background are also eligible to apply. In order to guarantee high study quality standards, the admission is limited to only 50 students per year.
Politecnico di Milano was established 1863 and is one of the most outstanding Technical Universities in Europe, ranked 6th in Design, 7th in Architecture and 20th in Engineering and Technology worldwide according to the latest QS World University Rankings by subject 2020.
