Manchester Met MSc FinTech degree explores advancing technology
Manchester Metropolitan University has launched a new Financial Technology (FinTech) postgraduate degree addressing one of the most exciting new trends in the digital age.
The new Msc FinTech degree at the University’s Business School focuses on modern innovations such as programming, business analytics, digital marketing, data science, strategy and risk in financial services.
The course will explore the intricacies and impact of financial technology while developing knowledge in areas such as risk management, advanced corporate finance, econometrics and statistical modelling.
Professor Hussein Abdou, who will lead the course at Manchester Metropolitan, said: “FinTech has successfully blended finance and technology together and is changing the way companies and consumers interact. This is occurring at a rapid rate with firms who were disrupting the banking industry, now being disrupted by the industry itself.
“This dedicated course combines expertise in finance, computing, risk and behavioural science and is designed to enhance an understanding of the rapidly evolving financial markets.”
FinTech is a term that can be applied anywhere technology is used to help companies manage the financial aspects of their business. Accountancy firm Deloitte has valued the UK industry at around £7 billion and FinTech features prominently in all major political parties’ economic strategies.
