University of HuddersfieldThe University of Huddersfield becomes the first winner of the Global Teaching Excellence Award following the University’s achievement of Gold-ranked status.

Leading educationalists from around the world have selected the University of Huddersfield as the first winner of the Global Teaching Excellence Award.

The University beat 26 other finalists to become the first winner of the award pioneered by the Higher Education Academy.

Following the University’s achievement of Gold-ranked status in the UK’s Government-backed Teaching Excellence Framework, the new distinction is added confirmation that Huddersfield’s educational standards are world class.

The University is one of only two to achieve a Gold Award in Yorkshire and the Humber.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, Professor Bob Cryan is delighted by the Gold Award.   “Over the past ten years we have worked incredibly hard to build a student experience that is second to none.  Winning GTEA is a huge tribute to the leadership team, our staff and our students, all of whom have formed an incredible partnership to make our University and its teaching so very special.”

Factors such as highly-qualified staff, individualised learning support and rapid feedback on coursework have propelled the University into the top category of the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

Huddersfield’s 20,000 students also benefit from a high-quality campus, ranked in the top 10 per cent nationally.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, Professor Bob Cryan said. “It shows that our strategy to provide top-class teaching, facilities and student support has come to triumphant fruition.  This award confirms that we are among the elite as a teaching institution and it is the result of a lot of hard work and dedication by our staff.  I would like to thank and congratulate them all.”
