City University of London celebrates its 125 year anniversary
The year 2019 marks the 125 year anniversary of City, University of London.
City – which was originally founded as the Northampton Institute in 1894 – was created with the objective of promoting “the industrial skill, general knowledge, health and wellbeing of young men and women belonging to the poorer classes.” Now, 125 years later, the university continues to go from strength to strength, and will spend the year reflecting on its impact and success on both the local London community, as well as globally over the last century and a quarter.
To celebrate this exciting anniversary, City will be hosting a series of events and exhibitions throughout 2019 to showcase how it has developed into the excellent institution it is today, and to reflect on the changes that it has seen over the years, as well as the ideals that have remained the same.
