Success in world subject rankings for Cardiff University

Cardiff UniversityCardiff University has been highly placed in a prestigious rankings table for subjects including Communication & Media, Architecture/Built Environment, Engineering and Dentistry.

The recently announced QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019 has placed these four subjects at Cardiff University within the top 50 worldwide. Cardiff University’s highest subject ranking is in Communication & Media Studies, where it is placed 25th in the world. It also ranked 37th for Architecture/Built Environment, 43rd for Engineering – Mineral & Mining, and 50th for Dentistry.

To top off this success, Cardiff University also features in the world’s Top 100 for a further five subjects: English Language & Literature; Geography; Pharmacy & Pharmacology; Psychology: and Social Policy & Administration. 

Speaking about this success, Professor Colin Riordan, Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University, says, “It is extremely pleasing to see our subjects performing so well in this prestigious ranking. It is our aim to make Cardiff University respected all over the world and this is a clear indication that we’re achieving this in a number of areas.” He continues, “Credit must be given to the hard work of our staff and student community on delivering these excellent results and pushing us towards our vision of being a world-leading, research excellent, educationally outstanding university.”

The QS World University Rankings by Subject are compiled annually using research citations and results of major global surveys of employers and academics. They cover a total of 48 disciplines, grouped into five broad subject areas.
