Barry McGuigan to receive honorary degree from University of Kent
Former boxing champion Barry McGuigan MBE is amongst those to be awarded an honorary degree from the University of Kent this summer. Barry McGuigan is a retired professional boxer from the Republic of Ireland who became WBA and lineal featherweight champion. He is the current President of the Professional Boxing Association and founder of Cyclone Promotions and will receive his honorary degree at a ceremony at Canterbury Cathedral on Tuesday 11th July.
Comedians Mark Steel and Phill Jupitus will also be receiving honorary degrees from the University of Kent at ceremonies at Canterbury and Rochester cathedrals during July, as will artist Jonathan Yeo, and computer scientist Professor Simon Peyton Jones.
