LCCM’s MMus in Music Production is an exciting and rigorous 12-month journey that will see students develop a wide range of creative, critical, and professionally-focused new material that reflects the changing nature of today’s industry.

This professionally focused, 12-month practice-based master’s degree in music production aims to help students develop a specialist understanding of advanced music production tools, techniques and processes through the creation of a significant body of original work demonstrating a distinctive artistic personality. During the first term, students will develop, workshop and record a body of songs and compositions which will then be taken through an advanced mixing and mastering processes in the second term. Students will also devise and test strategies to launch, market and continuously develop their professional personas and undertake a major body of creative and professional work over the summer, which could culminate in the creation of an album, a score for a feature-length film or the completion of an industry placement.

Overall, the programme aims to: - - refine your specialist creative practice;

  • enable producers to develop a significant body of original creative work;

  • develop a distinctive artistic personality or voice;

  • prepare you to lead and continuously develop in professional performance-based industry settings

Converging communications technologies, economic forces and an insatiable demand for content has led to increased competition and a greater need to specialise and create a name for oneself. With so many new channels to publish and exploit musical works, producers must now combine an advanced understanding of studio practices, DAW techniques and approaches to Post-Production with skills from a broad range of related disciplines and an entrepreneurial mindset.

The MMus in Music Production seeks to develop self-directed graduates who have the confidence, experience and imagination to realise a wide range of professional, industry-leading projects at a variety of scales. Our academic team are determined to provide you with a programme that is unrivalled in its ability to embrace music as art, craft and enterprise.
