Founded in 1451, the University of Glasgow is the fourth oldest university in the English-speaking world. The School supports a growing community of research students (MPhil and PhD) in Dumfries and further afield. Our team of research-led academic staff supports and supervises a wide range of interdisciplinary research areas.

The Dumfries Campus is set in 85 acres of leafy parkland with stunning views to the Solway estuary and hills, proximity to hiking and cycling trails, rivers and lochs, and a walk or short bus ride to the historic town centre. With excellent transport links, the rest of the United Kingdom is within easy reach; Glasgow and Edinburgh are just under two hours away, while Carlisle is under an hour.
