This course is specifically designed for lawyers and healthcare professionals with interests in medical law and ethics, particularly for those working in the healthcare sector and is taught by Leicester De Montfort Law School staff, offering extensive expertise in many specialist legal fields.

You should have a good honours degree or overseas equivalent, or an appropriate professional qualification. Some background knowledge of law is useful, but a degree in law is not essential. If English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 6.5 (including a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent is normally required.
Fully assessed by coursework and a dissertation.
Core modules: Introduction to healthcare law and ethics; dissertation. Elective modules: Medical negligence; patient safety, quality and professional regulation in healthcare law; consent and incapacitated patient; coroners law; expert evidence; issues relating to the creation and saving of life; issues relating to the termination of life; medical research law; mental health law; negotiated study; philosophy of health care; dental law, practice and ethics; public procurement law and practice.

Assessment is by coursework.
Modules include: Issues relating to the termination of life; issues relating to the creation and saving of life; mental health law; expert evidence; coroners law; consent and incompetent patients; clinical malpractice I; clinical malpractice ii; philosophy of health care law; medical research.
