The rising costs of tuition fees
The deadline for English universities to submit their draft access agreements to the Office of Fair Access (Offa) if they want to charge more than the lower limit of £6,000 for their tuition fees in 2012 was midnight on Tuesday 19th April.
Offa has now revealed that the majority of universities are planning on charging more than the lower threshold of £6,000 for their tuition fees .
There are 123 English institutions of higher education that offer full-time undergraduate courses, and out of these 122 met the deadline. The remaining institution has been given an extension.
So far not all of these institutions have publicly revealed what their tuition fees are going to be - although almost 50 of them are planning to charge the maximum £9,000 across the board. Other institutions have announced that they will be charging this maximum amount for some of their courses .
It remains to be seen what impact this will have on the costs of postgraduate programs .
