Summary
Whether you are new or experienced in teaching in HE, our course is for you. Accredited against the Higher Education Academy Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF), the PG Cert encourages you to reflect upon your own practice, learn from sharing practice with others, and develop a deep understanding of educational models framing HE in contemporary University settings. Regardless of whether you study it face to face or online, our highly interactive course exposes you to the very best teaching practice. Our qualified and experienced team offer face to face sessions at both our Chelmsford and Cambridge campuses; if you need the flexibility to study where and when it suits you, then our distance learning option may provide the most useful opportunity for you. The course comprises of two modules, with each module containing a compulsory teaching observation within your HE institution. As you’ll be undertaking observations within your institution as part of their quality assurance processes and support for your continuing professional development, this observation will focus on assessing your practice in relation to the related learning outcomes within the modules. You’ll have access to our Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), which provides you with a wide range of teaching and learning resources as well as interactive opportunities to engage with the materials and other students. You’ll be encouraged to reflect upon the impact of your teaching practice on learning, continually critique and develop it and share your experiences with others. As you start your course you’ll be invited to a face to face induction session in Cambridge or Chelmsford during teaching week 1. This will provide you with the opportunity to get to know your course, your fellow students and the campus better. If you are studying by distance learning, you are more than welcome to attend the induction. Our course is accredited by the Higher Education Academy and provides you with the opportunity to demonstrate that at the point of successfully completing your studies you are evidencing your practice in line with Descriptor 2 of the UKPSF. This means that you are eligible to apply to become a Fellow of the HEA. Please note that if the HE institution in which you work is not a member of the HEA, then a separate application fee will apply at that point.
