Summary
This pre-registration course offers a fast-track into a rewarding career as a speech and language therapist helping people to enjoy a greater quality of life. This course will empower you to diagnose communication and swallowing problems in babies, children and adults, and design and deliver life-improving treatment plans for those with autism, cleft palate, hearing impairment, stammering, stroke and a wide variety of other conditions.
While studying on the course you will learn how to build successful therapeutic relationships with your clients/patients, giving them the confidence and empowerment to support their own treatment plans. You will also develop a patient-centred approach to practice and an understanding of the mental health challenges that might also be experienced by the clients/patients you work with.
This course aims to develop highly skilled evidence-based speech and language therapists who adopt a patient-centred approach to practice; prepared for the challenges of an advancing profession and evolving patient/client needs.

Entry requirements | A minimum of a 2:2 BSc (Hons) degree in a relevant subject. Examples of relevant subjects include psychology, language, linguistics, biological science, medical science and childhood or education studies. Alternatively, have significant recent relevant work experience (e.g., working as a Speech and Language therapy assistant). |
