Summary

On the PhD in Mathematics of Systems you will learn to apply new mathematical techniques to solve real-world systems challenges. Ranked 3rd in the UK in REF 2014, the Warwick Mathematics Institute offers an expertly designed programme to train independent researchers.

Course overview Would you like to use novel mathematics to tackle real-world problems? Our research bridges two cross-cutting methodological themes that are central to complex multi-scale systems prediction: modelling across spatial and temporal scales; and hybrid modelling integrating complex data and mechanistic models. These themes pervade real-world problems in many areas of active research and will shape mathematical and computational modelling for the coming decades.

If you would like to investigate direct entry to the PhD programme, in the first instance please contact the MathSys team.

The Mathematics for Real-World Systems CDT runs a 1+3 MSc+PhD programme. Entrance is conventionally via the MSc year. Please see the description for MSc in Mathematics of Systems for more information or visit the MathSys CDT website.

As well as the taught MSc component, the PhD years include transferrable skills modules as well as summer schools and reading groups. PhD students are also encouraged to audit relevant courses.
