Summary
The MSc Public Health and Wellbeing programme at the University of Suffolk offers a comprehensive and enriching initiation into the field of public health. The focus of this programme is on enhancing and promoting the health and wellbeing of populations, preventing health adversities proactively, and addressing a wide range of determinants influencing health and driving health inequalities, with a concerted effort to diminish health inequalities. This programme will also provide you with an appreciation of the Sustainable Development Goals and their importance in the global sphere of public health. This programme aspires not only to impart knowledge and skills but to empower you to become a critical agent of change in the landscape of public health.
This MSc Public Health and Wellbeing programme provides an advanced introduction to Principles of Public Health and Wellbeing with a special focus on health promotion in public health, as well as modules on Research Methods and Epidemiology, Global Public Health Leadership, two optional modules (please see below), and culminates in a Dissertation. These modules will provide you with a solid grounding in key areas of public health. With optional modules (choice of two) available in Public Health Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health, the First 1000 Days of Life, and Mental Health Through the Life Course, this programme uniquely incorporates a range of disciplines to harness the latest evidence and a holistic approach in preventing ill health and optimising health improvement.
Studying this MSc Public Health and Wellbeing programme will enable graduates to work in public health roles in health, government, the voluntary sector, research and in the community. Different disciplines will vary in scope of practice, for example, Public Health Nutritionists may work within various sectors including NHS Trusts, Health Promotion, Government departments, charities, or the food industry, based on their expertise and qualifications.
