Summary

Multidisciplinary and collaborative approaches have been central to the continued success of medical research in St Andrews. Internationally recognised research programmes in various aspects of molecular medicine, psychology and community health sciences are currently being promoted and extended.

For most students, the PhD is a 3-year programme of supervised research, examined by thesis. The thesis is normally submitted by the end of the 3rd year and is a piece of original work describing the research undertaken and its implications for present knowledge. During the 1st year of study the School may require attendance on particular courses in order to acquire specific skills or knowledge, as appropriate to your area of study.
