The number of bursaries for entering MA students will double this autumn in the Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Birmingham, the department has announced.

Six bursaries of £3,000 each will now be available to overseas students, and four bursaries of £1,000 each will be available to home students (UK/EU). Awards will be allocated to individual students based on undergraduate grades and other criteria.

“We wanted to continue to attract some of the best MA students from around the world, and certainly increasing the pool of funds available to support those students is one way to help us achieve that goal,” said Luis Cabrera, Director of Postgraduate Studies for the Department.

Cabrera noted that POLSIS now offers more than two dozen MA programmes, one of the largest selections of any university in the world. And, with closer collaboration in 2008-09 between POLSIS and staff of Birmingham’s internationally renowned European Research Institute, options for students will be further enhanced.
