To attract and retain outstanding postgraduates, the University of Exeter is investing some £2.5 million per year in scholarships and financial support for postgraduates from the UK and overseas.
Taught masters programmes
The University offers a number of merit scholarships to students enrolling on postgraduate taught masters programmes:
• University of Exeter Full-fee Masters Degree Scholarships: The University is offering up to 18 full-fee one-year scholarships for taught masters programmes across subject areas in the arts, sciences and humanities and social sciences.
• University of Exeter Masters Scholarships for International Students: The University is also offering merit-based scholarships for international masters students of high academic ability on programmes starting in October 2008. These are offered on a country-specific basis across a variety of subject areas to applicants from: China, the Middle East (Jordan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and UEA) and Turkey.
• Postgraduates can also apply for a number of subject- and residency-based endowed scholarships.
Research programmes
The Exeter Graduate School provides information and advice on scholarships and other financial support available to research students:
• Overseas Research Students Award Scheme: partial remission of tuition fees for international students of outstanding merit and research potential undertaking research degrees.
• Exeter Research Scholarships: full-fee scholarships for international students
• Research Council Awards: guidance on applying for Research Council studentships.

In addition to scholarships, Exeter also operates teaching and research assistantships and the Exeter Graduate Fellowship Scheme, which offer paid teaching or research duties to help support research students.
Music and sports merit scholarships
The University recognises and encourages sporting and musical talent from students at all stages of their higher education career, and merit scholarships reflecting these particular abilities are available.
School and subject-based scholarships
Many of the University's academic schools offer generous studentships and scholarships, with school-funded financial support now totalling over £2 million per annum.
