History
The University of Lincoln has a long history stretching back to 1861 when the Hull School of Art was founded. The University’s Brayford Pool campus was officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen in October 1996 and in 2001 the University became the University of Lincoln, and began to expand its provision of postgraduate courses and increase the research opportunities available.
Facilities
Over the past decade, more than £100 million has been invested in the facilities and resources at the University’s main Brayford Pool campus, benefitting postgraduate study. This includes the development of the University Library, the Architecture School, Science Building, Performing Arts Centre and the Students’ Union Centre, the Engine Shed, which is the region’s largest live music venue. The University of Lincoln Sports Centre accommodates the needs of both students and staff, providing them with opportunities to participate in fitness classes and many sports-based activities.
