University of Bath
“...an institution which enjoys an attractive location and a high academic reputation...More than nine students out of ten surveyed say they would recommend the University to family and friends.”
The Times Good University Guide, 2007
Why Choose Bath?
The University of Bath has an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research and is consistently ranked amongst the top UK universities by The Times Good University Guide (9th in 2007). The student population numbers around 13,000, of whom 3800 are postgraduates. Living and studying at Bath, you will become part of a relatively small, academically select community, in a safe and friendly city.
Our students benefit from:
• State of the art facilities to support research
• One-year Masters courses including innovative and often interdisciplinary subject areas
• Research degrees supported by internationally recognised supervisors. Over 70% of research active staff were awarded 5 or 5* in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise
• Close links with industry and commerce
• The first 24 hour Library and Learning Centre in the UK
• Access, in many cases free, to exceptional sports and recreational facilities, including the £25m English Sports Village opened in 2004
The University of Bath was founded and awarded its Royal Charter in 1966, but has origins that go back to 1856. All of the University’s academic Departments, with the exception of the School of Management and the School for Health, are grouped within three Faculties:

The City of Bath
Bath is one of the most interesting, elegant and vibrant cities in the UK. It is one of only three cities in the world to be included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Bath is a spectacularly beautiful city which stands on the River Avon and in the hills of England’s West Country. Its population is approximately 100,000, so it is compact enough to remain friendly, and everything is within walking distance. The best known feature of the city is the Roman baths from which the city takes its name, and which can still be visited today.
Bath’s International Community
Around 25% of the students at Bath come from outside the UK, from over 100 countries around the world. Bath’s International Office provides advice and assistance to international students, from the enquiry stage through to graduation. Support includes: a dedicated Orientation Programme specially for international students; Amity – a mentoring scheme which pairs international students with a British student to help with settling in; and social events and trips around the UK.
