Theses and dissertations: how to plan, write and publish

Planning a good research project

If your postgraduate programme is at Masters level then you will not need to think about the project in detail until you are part way through the programme, although it is never too early to start to have some initial ideas.

Writing a thesis or dissertation

For most postgraduate students the idea of writing a dissertation or thesis is quite daunting. This section looks at a number of aspects of writing to show how any concerns you have can be dealt with, so that you can write a good-quality thesis or dissertation.

Publishing your work

Although the main aim of your postgraduate programme will be for you to be awarded a Masters degree or a Doctorate, it will add considerably to your achievement if some or all of your work is eventually published in a journal or as a book.
