With over 13 years experience working in ICT in his native Malta, and a desire to continue his studies to advance his career, Donald Tabone was thrilled to be awarded the £500 Global LLM Bursary from Postgrad Solutions Ltd.
He says, ‘Winning the bursary has given me one more good reason to continue to pursue my studies and strive to invest in my education. I am excited and privileged to have been chosen.’
Having finished a degree in Computing and Information Systems, Donald wanted to supplement his knowledge with an LLM in Technology & Telecommunications Law to give him more flexibility in his career path in Malta. He chose a British institution to continue his studies at because of the historical links between Britain and Malta.
‘Malta and Britain have very strong ties since Malta is a former British colony – hence besides having two national languages, English being one of them, so choosing to study in Britain comes almost automatically,’ he explains. ‘Furthermore the qualification is fully recognised here in Malta and being in the EU means that I not only learn EU standard stuff but I also benefit from reduced tuition fees.’
Donald is very pleased with his choice of university, ‘Strathclyde Law School has a good ranking and reputation,’ he enthuses. ‘I am lucky to know several other Maltese friends who completed the same course I am going to take, and it comes highly recommended.’
He is doing his LLM via distance learning, however although he is unable to immerse himself in the campus elements of student life, Donald is still very pleased with his chosen institution. He says, ‘Strathclyde seems to me to be an avant-garde university with excellent tutors and resources, and being a distance learner, knowing that I have the support I need is crucial for me to complete this degree.'
