Summary

The programme aims to equip students with the skills to identify developments within the sector and develop their competence to continue to keep their knowledge current into their professional role. The programme aims to up skill the workforce who work with children with SEND by providing a critical overview of the political, economic, and social drivers that inform policy and legislation. Practitioners will develop their confidence in taking responsibility in implementing appropriate interventions for children with SEND as part of a single and multi-agency approach. Practitioners will develop their reflections skills to have an impact on the development of high-quality provision for children with SEND whilst challenging the inequalities that exist for some children and their families.

This course is particularly relevant to people already working within the special educational needs and disability sector.

This course provides a range of skills relevant across a variety of different professions.

People who have completed this course have gone on to work in areas including advanced skills teachers, special educational needs and disability coordinators, assistant head teachers, head teachers, consultancy, advocacy, LA, criminal justice, lecturing and youth working.
